With physical relaxation comes mental calmness — in any situation.
The Progressive Muscle Relaxation Exercise helps you relax your muscles by deliberately applying tension, and then stopping the tension and notice how the muscles relax as the tension flows away.
By practicing this relaxation exercise, you will quickly learn to recognize the distinct difference of the feelings associated with tensed muscles and relaxed muscles. With practice, you can then create physical muscular relaxation at the first signs of anxiety or tension. With physical relaxation comes mental calmness – in any situation.
I only talk about writing in the most mechanical fashion: good habits, bad habits, how to know when you’re working right, how to know when you’re working wrong. I almost never like to think about the aim. I assume the aim just comes out of the deepest part of your consciousness, if you’re serious about the job. There are purposes you can state, but it could be misleading to talk about them, because there are other deeper purposes that you can’t state.
